Thanks. I was more interested in the differences between protocols. What was added in 4.0 and is 4.0 supported in free editions?

Regards,
Alex

Hi Alex,

VNC viewers & servers negotiate the protocol version to use at startup, so
that all versions of viewer & server are interoperable.

Subject: Protocol 3.8 vs 4.0

Hi,
I compiled RealVNC 4.1.2 on FreeBSD 4.5 for my wife to use. I noticed that when I connect to it viewer reports protocol 3.8. On the other hand when I connect to EE which I use for my work viewer reports protocol 4.0.

What are the differences between these two versions? Is version 4.0 supported in latest free vnc client for unix?

Regards,
Alex
