Yes it works like a charm!! I think my problems are java related. I tested it with a test html page were I hard coded the applet=vncviewer etc. and port = 5901 and it then complained about not finding the .class and .jar files. I then put the into my defaultdoc directry and it worked. Thus it would seem that the Apache server does not know where the java files live. Do you know how I get over this?
