Have you tried using the IP address instead of the machine name in the
vncviewer?
If you have a Win98 machine on a Win2000 domain controller there are
several network resources that you wont have access to unless configured
properly, DNS may not be resolving the hostname/machinename from the
Win98 machine.
For example: Instead of typing in 'Bobsmachine:0' in vncviewer, find its
IP address and try '10.10.2.56:0' instead.

Hi,
        Try to copy HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\ORL\winVNC3
"Password"=<passwd in hex>
to

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORL\WinVNC3\<username>]
"Password"=<passwd in hex>

Yes, we reinstalled, and restarted. The error we get is "failed to
connect
to server". I don't see how it can connect seeing as how we don't give
it a
password, but then it doesn't ask for one. There's a window that
displays on
my Windows 2000 that asks for a password. This doesn't display on
Windows
98.

We can get to the server OK. I keep the VNC zip file there and we copied
it
over from there on to the Windows 98 machine to install it.
