We have succesfully distributed VNC using the Microsoft SMS Installer tool. It
comes as a component of Microsoft System Management Server and is very useful
indeed. You install SMS Installer on a typical PC. Run it. Then install AND
configure VNC. Then signal SMS Installer to close the installation. You can
decide to have a silent install and then push this installation file through
the logon script. Works real good. Does not even require a reboot on NTW,
NTS or W2K. Not sure about Win95, Win98 or WinME.
Also, I am not sure if you can obtain the tool as a separate download from
Microsoft.
You may want to try the NT Resource kit SysDiff tool which essentially does the
same thin as SMS installer but without the nice GUI. We also use SysDiff for
other implementation but found SMS Installer worked best for VNC.
