I've seen the same sorts of problems going the other way (Unix to Windows
server). I've found that setting:
-enc "hextile copyrect" -bgr233
helps a lot, as does turning off any wallpaper. It's still slow (since
both client and server are limited to 128kbps upstream) but tolerable.
I'd *really* recommend moderate zlib or tight compression, if this bothers
your users.
