I have a similar problem with Windows 2000.

I have narrowed it down to only occurring if you have logged out of windows!
If you leave, say, administrator logged in, you can connect with the viewer
as often as you like.

However, if you logout, then close the viewer, you will get "invalid
password" type disconnections every time you subsequently try to start the
viewer!

The fix I have been using is to ring up someone to physically go and login
to the console. I can then get in via the viewer.

The server is at a remote site, there a routers inbetween, but no proxys.

Anyone suggest a fix for this???

Thanks and Regards,

Nathan.
