In my defence, I've searched the FAQ and tried to read the
documentation/troubleshooting help carefully. I've seen no reference to an
error like this, but it's horribly persistant here.

Running the server on a WIN2000 SP1 machine, running the client on a Win98
machine. The two machines are connected by common or garden 10MBit Ethernet.

I can start sessions just fine. They run for a period of time ranging from
a minute to several minutes. Then the cursor freezes on the client and it
stops receiving updates. Moving the cursor on the client results in 100%
CPU usage on the client, but nothing happening (apparently) on either the
client or the server. After about ten seconds, the connection simply
disappears (i.e., the VNC window disappears from the client).

If I immediately start a new VNC session, the cycle repeats itself.

It makes no difference what I am doing (i.e., what programs are being
executed) on the server, this _always_ happens.
