u dont say which version of linux you are using (i.e. in particular whether
it runs aurora on boot up) - what should happen is that during boot up when
the vncserver service is started it should prompt you to enter the default
password which you would then supply when you try to connect with whatever
vnc client you are using - aurora due to its graphical nature does not let
you see the message requesting the password causing an obvious problem as to
how to enter it.
even if your problem is not caused by the above probably the best solution i
can offer you is to try the following:
the vnc server service runs as root but puts its configuration files into
/.vnc rather than /root/.vnc
so firstly make sure you are logged on as root, then make the directory
/.vnc (if one does not already exist)
now i am assuming you have a file called /root/.vnc/passwd from having run
the vncserver manually, simply copy this into the /.vnc directory i.e. cp
/root/.vnc/passwd /.vnc/.
next its probably best to also copy the file /root/.vnc/xstartup to the
/.vnc directory so you get whatever window manager and startup options you
require
finally reboot and try to connect using the password you have been
previously using when starting the vncserver manually
hope this helps
dan
