Are you lost. Or just not into reading.
The documentation fully describes how to do this on both windows and Unix.
And if you know how to search, then you can look through the lists.

But the answer to your question is yes it can be done and without
recompiling.

I will describe the default behavior. Native viewer listens on 5900 and the
web server (just serves the applet) listens on 5800 notice 100 less then
native, and you need both ports if you are going to use the web server.

So to set http to port 8080 you need to set native 5900 port to 8180. This
can be done by adding the display number to 5900. Notice 8180 - 5900 = 2280.
So in the winvnc properties enter 2280. now from a browser you can enter
http://ip:8080 and get in.
But from your description, you only have port 8080 so then you will want the
native port at 8080 - 5900 = 2180 as display number.
Now if you want port numbers below 100 there is a trick. But you will have
to search the archives for this.
I hope this gives you what you need.
Steve

P.S. the httpport option is in Xvnc for Unix and you specify it on the
command line like -httpport 8080.

Subject: RE: Another Port ? (Who can recompile WinVNC ?)

Hi Ed and all other,

I think we only need someone,
who can recompile the "WinVNC".

In the VNC-FAQ I read something about
"switch to NO_NORBA" in the configuration of C++
I don't know anything about C++

Is there anyone, wo has compiled the WinVNC successfull,.
without any errors ?
