Thank you, Rick, for your quick response to my problem.

I changed both Celeron computers screen settings to 640x480 pixels, 256
colors, rebooted both to be sure they were seeing the changes, ran VNC App on
one and VNC Viewer on the other.  The results were the same as before,  the
screen of the machine I am running the Viewer on says "Please wait-Initial
Screen is loading."

Here is one more hint.  When I move the mouse on the server, the tiny square
moves around on the screen, and the activity lights for the two computers on
the network hub blink back and forth, rapidly.  I suppose this indicates some
sort of communication between the two computers?

Apparently, WIN98SE has done something differently about networking?  I would
hate to try to remove it and replace it with the older WIN98 just to see if I
could obtain better results with VNC.

Finally, I hope that I am sending this msg to the correct address so that all
using the list could join in.  I need all the help I can get!
