I'm trying to use Windows NT with service pack 5 to
view my RedHat Linux v 7.2 desktop. Vncserver is
running on Linux . However, when I try to view it from
an NT machine, which is on the same token ring LAN, (
but a different segment), I do not get a prompt asking
for password. Eventually I get the following message
"Failed to connect to server ". I can ping and telnet
to the Linux box from the NT box. With debugging on, I
get this "Started and winsock <v 2> initialized.
bufsize expanded to 4352. Registered connection with
app. Deregistered connection from app. Exiting. VNC
viewer closing down" I tried the compiled viewer
versions 3.3.3r9, 3.3.3r7 from the AT&T site, and the
tight vnc viewer, and the result was always the same.
The rpm file on the Linux box is
vnc-server-3.3.3r2-18 which came from the RedHat CD. I
tested to see if I could view the desktop from the
local Linux machine running vncviewer, and I was able
to do so.
Can anybody give me a clue as to why I can't
connect to the server from the NT box?
Thanks.
Joc
