In response to my post on [1]editorial changes, Iain Murray (whose
[2]Edge of England's Sword blog has just gotten active again) writes:

from his publishers he was outraged to see all references to
"Elvish" changed to "Elfin" and all instances of "Dwarfs" corrected
to "Dwarves", among many others.
Yup, the Elves were certainly not elfin.
