As far as I remember the box is just a simple D/A converter creating a
stepped approximation of sine wave. The DC level of each step is
syncronously (GPIB) measured by a 3458A and the rms value is
calculated from that data by a special software. The system relies on
the speed and DC accurary of the 3458A, the source itself is not
accurate or stable.
