Hi! My name is David Fair (Pronounced Daveed Fa'ear), and I have been
using OpenOffice for a few years now. I prefer it to MS Office, not least
because of the online requirements and subscription plan.
I have been teaching myself to code macros and forms in Calc, designing
"calculators" for processing Play-By-Mail game turns, which is my passion.
I have several years of programming experience in VB, VBA, and Python, but
being self-taught has limited the range of my knowledge and skills. I am
taking an AI class from IBM on Coursera.org, as well as a Python class, but
can't find coding classes for VB other than VBA for MS Office.
I want to contribute to the open-source program, believing it is a better
option than monetized software, especially the over-large companies that
hold users hostage with subscriptions.
I also want to learn in a more structured manner, having something useful
to work on, rather than just doing "Hello World" exercises.
My experience IS limited, but I am eager to learn, have good
problem-solving skills, massive creativity, and prefer to think outside the
box.
