Hi Warren,

I didn't see any other discussion of this topic on the mailing list, but you
should use the "reject connection immediately if host is blacklisted"
option. This will prevent potential problems with the connection hanging,
which could then cause the messages to backlog.

Hey thanks,

Ya there is. But according to the docs,

>>>By default, VopMail is rejecting the connection from a RBL'ed host
after the "MAIL FROM" SMTP command. If you enable this option, the
connection will be rejected once the RBL lookup routine will return with
an error.<<<

So, I don't know if this actually "drops" the connection, or if it just
responds with the 550 error at a different point. Plus, I want to see
what the "mailfrom" is in case it's from a user that I want to receive
from.

Isn't there an option under the IP lookup tab (ANTI SPAM area of main
menu) that says:

"REJECT CONNECTION IMMEDIATELY IF HOST IS BLACK LISTED"

Do you have this one turned on?

OK, thanks for the reply.

That's an awful lot of IPs to add to a block list :^)

I don't think there is ... many spamwares aren't actually full bonafide
mail servers, they are just smtp-enabled applications that loop through
a database of name and broadcast out messages without much intelligent
processing of replies from the receiving server. You're best bet would
be to try to block the connection immediately by adding the IP in the
block-by-IP list or better yet, do a router-level block.

I have gotten RBL working on my VOPmail system. I have noticed though
that a lot of servers ignore the 550 command and just keep on talking.
Is there anyway to stop/deal with this?
