Osirusoft seems to be back up now... -----Original Message----- From: Yves Lacombe [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: January 8, 2003 11:45 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [VOPmail Beta] Notice: SMTP Server timeouts - Osirusoft DNSBL is down (temporarily) Importance: High * This is the vopmailbeta mailing list * I got an Email from one of my customers who was having problems with an SMTP Server being slow to respond (when you telnetted to port 25, the mail server would take upwards of 2 minutes to show the SMTP banner). This is the reason why: ---------------- Santa Ana winds in California took out connectivity for osirusoft's rbl servers, and they're still unreachable today. Remove them, or everything will either "time out" and be very slow or it will reject all mail temporarily until the rbl works again. I ended up disconnecting from osirusoft's rbl service that blocks spams, and mapped to different ones which work, and the speed is now back o normal. I currently use (orisusoft currently disabled): sbl.spamhaus.org Spammers and spam support relays.ordb.org open relays proxies.monkeys.com open proxies formmail.monkeys.com formmail.pl blacklist proxy.relays.osirusoft.com open proxies (down) dynablock.wirehub.net dynamic addresses (dialup, etc) opm.blitzed.org open proxies dialups.visi.com dialup addresses relays.visi.com open relays ----------------- Sounds like Osirusoft's DNSBL may be having problems with connectivity so if you are using it (or SPEWS), you might want to be carefull with that. -- Yves Lacombe SPAM Fighting Team T4C/BMC Server Support (514) 845-1666 ext. 300 -----BEGIN GEEK CODE BLOCK----- Version: 3.12 GIT d+ s+:++ a C++++ UL+++ P++ L+++ E+ W+++ N+++ o-- K w++ O- M-- V PS++ PE- Y PGP+ t+++ 5+++ X-- R+ tv- b+++ DI-- D+ G e++ h r++ y++ ------END GEEK CODE BLOCK------ ** To leave this list, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put the word "LEAVE" in the BODY of the email. ** To leave this list, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put the word "LEAVE" in the BODY of the email.
