MessageMike,

I don't have a support contract because there has been no bloody point having one
as I could have just donated the money to Vircom because nothing would have been
received in return.

My dumping on Vircom is simply because they have earned it with their lack of
product development and commitment to existing customers in this regard.

If you are clueless and need hand holding then good luck - you get value from
spending money on a 'support' contract.

I (and many others) don't need 'support', just upgrades which have been sadly
lacking and a promised release still does not make up for the wasted money
people have paid already.

Now we are being provided the generous offer to pay for a support contract
in the next couple of days to be allowed the chance of receiving an upgrade
in 3 months time.

Seems obvious to me that the backlash on this list is what has prompted the
6.0 release and the release won't be for 3 months because it will take them
that long to strip things out of modusmail to make 6.0 happen.

Of course they could prove me wrong by releasing in on July 1st 2003 and also
guaranteeing a minimum number of product releases during each 12 month period
so we are provided with some value guarantee for our money.

My original questions remain...

- What is the compelling reason to move from 5.x to 6.0?

- Is there a list of improvements/features available?

- Will there be a commitment from Vircom to a guaranteed number of
product updates during each year or will we be doing this again in 18 months?

One last thing, Mike - if you feel the need to bring up irrelevant topics like
religous/political leaders into this thread then an old saying comes to mind
which is "You can't have a picnic without ants."

Either add me to your email killfile, get constructive or grow up.

..Petar

You only need to buy a support contract now if you don't already have one. They give
people who have let their support lapse an opportunity to buy back in in prep for a new
version and someone faults them for that too! While were on the subject of finding
fault
why don't we start a thread attacking Jesus Christ, Buddha, Mahatma Ghandi, Mohamed and
I'm sure we can find a few others. Just grab a few stones to throw their way too. Why
just settle for Vircom to dump on, we've got a whole wide world sitting right outside
of
our glass houses.

Yes, good new indeed although I note that you need to buy a support contract now
and the release is due in September which is 3 months away. Seeing nothing is
happening with 5.x that means you essentially purchase a 9 month support
contract for the price of 12 months.

What is the benefit in upgrading? If the 'advanced security features' are removed
then what is the compelling reason to encourage people to spend more money?

Is their a new feature list or a bug fix list that can be viewed?

How much are 'upgrade' contracts these days?
