Come on Jed. The guy is 72 he says, he has been running his show under various forms for 40 years it seems, and he is very far from being an idiot.

He seemed kind of stupid to me, but I only talked to him for 10 or 20 minutes, so I cannot tell. He was not trying to dupe me. He knew there was no possibility I would invest or meet with him.

In all this time wouldn't you expect him to have found out by himself, or at least to have been told by someone, how siphons work?

It is difficult to judge. Some people are unable to learn anything, and immune to rationality. Many hardcore opponents of cold fusion seem incredibly stupid to me, but I think they honestly believe what they say. A few are intellectually dishonest. One, Taubes, told someone (Ed Storms, I think it was) that he does not know or care whether his statements about cold fusion are true. I gather his purpose was to sell books. That is unethical, but it is more crazy than dishonest. My guess is that he sees himself as a writer of science fiction, or amusement, like these people who make television programs about haunted houses. I think Taubes and Britz publish fabulous lies about cold fusion (and about me!) because they think none of this matters, and they assume the rest of us are only pretending too, and this is an inconsequential game.
