There are valid historical reasons for this going back to MIT in 1990, and the deliberate falsification of data. The stakes are too high to allow hot fusion and fission advocates to control and denigrate this research. I would suggest that Peter Hagelstein be appointed the first director and the 'hot fusion' oriented people like Peter Zimmerman be excluded from this side of the aisle, although I am sure he will have a place on other side.
