In the introduction to chapter 7 you say,

Did he really believe that?

I always thought that he believed that atoms were absolutely 
indivisible and that subdivision was impossible. Clearly, 
if we are going to have a hierarchy of *atoms*, a hierarchy 
of *substances*, then we have to start making a distinction 
between hierarchical substance and the ultimate Substance 
of Thomas Aquinas, for example.
