No sense in maligning anthropology as a unique safe harbor for hubris... denial, institutionalized fraud, & wishful thinking is pervasive in all university cultures IMO (students and teachers). It's the only place it can exist and thrive because reality is always kept at arms length. Can you give an example where anything close to "tenure" exists in the open market place? Only in the utopian fantasy land of academia can such a thing be venerated.
