The "Invisible Man Syndrome" -- IMS for short. It is an affliction particularly characteristic to North America...and probably an emergent meme, deriveing from Sci-Fi. You might enjoy a 20 year old comedy feature "Amazon Women on the Moon" which lampoons several B-film genres of the time. One sketch is a vignette titled "Son of the Invisible Man" wherein a naked Ed Begley Jr. portrays a man who thinks he's invisible, but who is actually right there in plain sight to everyone else, and no doubt emote "au naturelee" in full view of the "em-bare-assed" supporting cast. http://movies2.nytimes.com/gst/movies/movie.html?v_id=1812 There could be a lesson in there somewhere...
