A laddermill "sail" would be terrific fun for a recreational sailboat . It could drive a prop. It would do especially well sailing directly into the wind, a point of sail where ordinary sails can't go. It may not do well in a following wind, but that's what spinnakers are for. The concept might even be of some use for commercial shipping.
