You can't be serious, man! If you enlarge the picture, http://www.montalcino-tuscany.com/montalcino_ufo.htm then it's perfectly obvious that the sphere is a representation of the earth with blue sea and green land. The yellow bit at the top is the sun and the "protruberance" is the moon. The antenna are the usual symbolic staffs of office holders (cf. Black Rod who opens the British Parliament by banging on the door of the commons with his staff. It strikes me that the idea of the painting representing some kind of Sputnik is a scam put around to encourage intellectually challenged Ufologists to come to the church and give a donation. ================================================ See it for Yourself If you would like to view this oil on canvas in the Church of San Pietro please mail me in advance at [EMAIL PROTECTED] to arrange an appointment. San Pietro is not normally open to visitors and whilst there is no charge for this service, we are presently carrying out restorations to the church and your financial donation will be appreciated. ================================================ Frank Grimer >
