A resistance heater is simple and 100% efficient. It's also quiet. Many
Yusmars of yesteryear were sold as room heaters. Purported OU performance
from the cavitation generator was never independantly verified. It looked
different and the room got hot. Who could tell the difference?

The electric generators Edison used were similar to other designs common at
the time. The key was a long-life, high resistance incandescent lamp whose
filament was found empirically. Then Edison built the system from existing
technology with devices he invented in detail from generally known
principles. Electric lighting was a hard sell; he had to separate light from
fire, which were merged in the public mind.
