Jed, you shouldn't put so much reliance on hybrid
gas-electric engines.
Diesel cars in the 80's could get 50 mpg
A vaporizing carbeurator was demonstrated in the 30's
that got 100 mpg
The standard internal combustion engine is grossly
inefficient, but there are technologies out there
(most of which have patents which have lapsed) that
could fix the situation.
