You might try cutting an ACME Thread in a poly rod and stretching a clear poly tube over it. Double Stub?   OTOH, the screw from a garage door opener has an ACME thread,don't it?   On that note a non-ferrous conducting inner rod with an ACME thread channel with insulation over the lands with a tight-fitting non-ferrous outer conductor sleeve in a solenoid/axial magnetic field should make a good Faraday-type MHD Generator when you run sea water (or mercury) through it.   Hope this helps.
