*Viable dark energy models using pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone bosons*

One big problem that the cosmologists have is meeting the mass requirement
the effective mass that the pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone bosons must have to
produce Dark Energy.
A particle with an effective mass of 2×10^−3 eV cannot be found in
particle physics. But, this very low mass is a good fit for the effective
mass of the polariton being 10^-8 times that of the electron.

The polariton is a good candidate for the pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone bosons
where its excited magnetic states provide a phase transition that shields
the polariton from interactions with other EMF forces as well as removes
the reqiurement for the polariton to project a 5th repulsive force in its
ground state.

Presently we live in a strange Universe where the recent
observations suggest that the Universe has started
to accelerate very recently [1–3]. With the assumption
of the General Theory of Relativity being the correct
description of physical phenomenon at the cosmic scale,
and the effects of inhomogeneities can be neglected, recent
cosmic acceleration can be explained by the addition
of some exotic matter with negative pressure (broadly
called “dark energy”) that has started to dominate the
total energy budget of the Universe. The cosmological
constant (#) is the simplest source of dark energy that
can solve this problem. Moreover, the single parameter
solution of introducing # in the Einstein-Hilbert action is
an excellent fit to the all observational data [4]. But the
required value of # to match the observations is very tiny:
# ≈ (2×10−3 eV )4. Even if the cosmological constant is
the reason behind the cosmic acceleration, its tiny value
is extremely difficult to justify from the present theoretical
understanding of the particle physics. Additionally,
in the context of cosmological constant, there is no dynamical
resolution to the question of why the Universe
is getting dominated by the cosmological constant very
recently. Surely, the anthropic arguments in the context
of String Theory landscape scenario is a possibility [5].

Because the polariton can be produced dynamically from cosmic dust, it can
come into existence when the density conditions of dusty plasma are just
right for its creation. The polariton can both come into existence and
dominate the cosmic condition when the conditions for its creation are just
right then go away at other times. The existence of the polariton has
nothing to do with the unchanging constraints of particle physics. The
polariton is a ghost particle that can come and go as changing conditions
throughout the universe warrant.
