It was indeed a Parkhomov type replication.  It used a quartz tube and 
got up to the high 1000sC when the heater wire broke. It was more of a 
test run without internal temperature and pressure sensors.
His idea was to compare Amp Volts vs temp with a dummy run without 
powder.  Not expecting, but hoping for some excess heat.
I understand he is waiting for a ceramic tube to use next time.
