Here's Interesting article on a new superconductor material, with implications 
for energy storage, space propulsion and a whole bunch of other applications:

The new material is called a "Jahn-Teller metal, that surprisingly 
simultaneously shows characteristics of a magnet, insulator and a 
superconductor that works at relatively high temperatures."
