I found this discussion incredibly shallow. Of course fear can be bad. After all it gave us the Bush administration and the Iraq war. On the other hand some things are worth fearing. The demand on oil is going up which causes the price of energy to go up. This will have fearful consequences for many people. The earth is warming, regardless of the source of this energy. This will also have fearful consequences. I person has to identify fearful situations and avoid them. If people in New Orleans had feared a major Hurricane, as was predicted, they would have better protected themselves, or moved. So, what is the point to this essay?
