Another interpretation regarding the EmDrive is that the thrust is real but the effect (for whatever reason) requires an external source of electricity. On the plus side the thrust could not be explained away as an artifact of the electrical forces between the input wires, but on the down side it would mean the EmDrive could not power itself.
