Here is a quick question. Since you are interested in the spin-orbit
magic number 6 and carbon... do the magic numbers explain why carbon can
become magnetic?
Irradiated graphite is known to turn magnetic. A few researchers have
been fooled into believing that the graphite transmuted to iron when
that happened, but it was simpler in that graphite became ferromagnetic
on its own. A consortium in Europe has been set up to study this effect.
There are implications for LENR.
