Robin Here is a thesis of interest on the "dynamical Casimir effect" where the force is converted into energy. There are others in the following cite - this is a relatively hot topic at Universities.

Aside from that coincidence, there is no obvious connection between the two. It was mentioned as a possible way that laser power could become amplified (as was the "grape" metaphor)... grasping at straws, as it were.
