A number of recent papers are turning up on Google Scholar which fill in the
theoretical gaps and broaden Holmlid's work with laser irradiation of dense
hydrogen.
This one will be of interest to a few here... OK... maybe only Axil and Bob
Cook since it is pushing the limits. Apparently, the main premise is a version
of the "Einstein Ring" around nucleons. Normally this is a large scale
phenomenon of gravitational lensing. If transposed to quantum gravity, a
virtual "black hole" becomes an operative black hole that exists temporarily as
a result of a quantum fluctuation of spacetime. It can induce proton
disintegration.

Anyway, even if you grow mentally numb at the mention of nano black holes, the
important point is that the Holmlid niche is drawing significant and well
reasoned interest from theoreticians around the World - at least the ones with
tenure or who have retired.

Here is the citation - there are several others. IMHO this is the most
interesting thing happening in the field of LENR... by a mile.
