The researchers figured that complex decisions are best left to the
unconscious mind because humans can only think about so many things at the
same time.

"Contrary to conventional wisdom, it is not always advantageous to engage in
thorough conscious deliberation before choosing," the researchers wrote in
Friday's issue of the journal Science.
