My thought in posting on the" more than 10 years after" thread was to make mention that predictions can pull both from the ancient past into the distant future such as the Purim account which spans from Joshua fighting the Amalekites back around 1800 BC to the present Lebanon/ Gaza. Belief systems, as mentioned peripherically by John are promulgated by combinations of events from past traditions to present experiences. Of the most corrosive is hate. Interesting you brought up Edom, Edom, (Mt. Sier , or Esau), the brother of Jacob. Amalek, not Edom, is the ancient enemy of Isreal,( the arch enemy). The prediction was that Isreal would fight the Amalekites every generation. Some believe the Kazarites out of Russia are Edomites having taken on the mantle of the religion of Isreal and have strong influence both in Germany and English speaking nations. What we read as described as the Hezbollah now fighting in Lebanon may be the " next generation of the Amalekites. Only the shadow knows. We do know that when a bunch of mean little kids want an excuse to be mean little kids, it don't take much predicting to figure out somebodys gonna get killed. Richard |
