Richard, I think I mentioned this before in a private email, but one possible tactic for what you want to do is to set up two standing waves in your vortex chamber, which overlap. There should be a focusing effect in the overlapping nodes of the standing waves.
But if the two sources are not phase synchronous, the nodes will skittle about. Terry
