I feel this is not about safety or 'ride'. Rather it is about getting you the working person out of your car. Permanently! If you cannot afford to buy or fix a car, then you will not drive. Period. This is just another way to create another elitist privilege, driving, out of what really is a necessity. Think of the disruption and depression in the USA if workers could not afford to drive!
