Technically speaking COP is not a measurement. Its value is calculated by identifying the value of actual measurements with variables in a system of algebraic relations which are structured according to the logic of accepted physical laws. Unless the device can power itself, we are at the mercy of the accepted "laws" to act as judges of performance. Harry
