European Energy policies
10 questions, 10 answers for the future
Dr.-Ing. Hildegard von LIECHTENSTEIN

Quote from page 11:

"The real technologies of the future:

Hot and cold nuclear fusion – Early last year it was decided that the research
centre for nuclear fusion ITER would be built in France and would begin its
work in 15(!) years' time. The interval between the discovery of the
radioactivity of radium by Marie Curie in 1898 and the first large nuclear
power station of 35 MW in England was almost 60 years. By the year 2050, we
will certainly not have a fusion reactor available for electricity generation –
if ever … I am somewhat more optimistic – despite the evidence to the contrary
– in respect of coldfusion, which incidentally, would be much less dangerous.
Unfortunately, research in this field has almost come to a standstill. The two
most prominent American scientists in the field were subjected to harassment by
their colleagues at MIT under unusual circumstances."

We shall have to contact Dr. V. L. and tell her that more than two researchers
have been harrassed.
