Cold is normally conceived as a lack of heat or a lack of motion in the case of the kinetic theory of heat. Modern science teaches that cold is not a thing unto itself.
Suppose instead cold is conceived as a complement of heat, much as positive charge is the complement of negative charge. "Absolute zero" would be the neutral point between hot and cold, being neither hot nor cold. Of course this theory implies it is possible to go below "absolute zero". Harry
