Interesting post Horace. I have previously mentioned Jim McCanney. He says that big rocks are impacting the Sun. They come from a direction orthogonal to the planetary ecliptic. Given their distance from Earth, they would have to be sizable in order to be photographable. Sun spots, and increased solar irradiance are said to be coincident with these impacts. Interesting story, unfortunately Jim is the only person talking about it, and he doesn't answer emails.
