Yes. That chart atop this page is most interesting in the context of our sun's activity.... Again raising the questions: is the 5.5 year cycle of Eta Carinae merely coincidental to our sun's 11 year cycle?

It may be coincidental - in fact as far as I can tell - no professional astronomer, nor any other observer at all, has ever mentioned the cross-connection. So it could be coincidental, as I do not claim either special expertise nor a secret message from the Illuminati or VALIS ;-)

However, NASA experts are just now saying: "The [SOHO] team predicts the next cycle will begin with an increase in solar activity in late 2007 or early 2008, and there will be 30 to 50 percent more sunspots, flares. etc."

END of NASA quote:

... which explanation of course did not mention Eta Carinae as a possible root cause, but given the timing from the chart above which peaked in June a year ago for RF emission, and the fact that a one year delay for massive particles like SQM - means that they are moving at a fair percentage of light speed... as EC is ~7500 ly away. WOW.

From the previous posting on SQM:

> The so-called "strange quark matter" (aka SQM or "strangelets") is very dense... heavier even than neutron star material - a sphere the size of a bacterium would weigh a ton ... the $64 question is: could a tiny volume of "strange matter" being accelerated out from EC and directly towards Earth be the possible connection to the recent anomalous solar activity which has trailed, by 12-18 months, the peak x-ray output of EC? or... If anomalous volcanism were to follow, soon here on earth, it may also be from this same "strange matter" cause:

BTW, this cite above is a "must read" for anyone interested in understanding the risks or prospects of a cosmic influence on earthly catastrophe....as well as offering an explanation as to how some of this strange quark material could have become imbedded with normal matter on the interior of earth...

Although some theorists have suggested that most strange matter was formed in the early Universe, remnants of this matter may still exist in binary systems like EC, and even in some asteroids -plus, strange matter may still be being born at the extreme-end of cosmic violence, such as occurs on EC (its photon output exceeds 5 million suns) ...

This is probably not very comforting information to those on Vo who reside in the Southern Hemisphere...
