BlankA 4th of July parade, bar-b-q and celebration is held each 4th at Round Top Texas, the smallest incorporated town ( population 71) in Texas. This is the longest continued 4th celebration and parade held west of the Mississippi River and started in 1856 by the local German and Czech immigrants as a tribute to the concept of freedom.There is a parade, horses, wagons and marching bands with floats from all surrounding towns .. including Dime Box.
To some, it's foolish and corny, but to us it is the real that remains in a world that is in transition. Yes! , it still brings tears to our eyes to stand and salute our nation's flag, to think of how this nation was conceived. A hope, a dream, written words that lift hearts in belief that there is an inherent goodness in man that seeks peace and good will. Everyone that ever served this country under it's flag holds a love for you America.. One nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all. O beautiful for patriot dream That sees beyond the years Thine alabaster cities gleam Undimmed by human tears.
