Howdy Vorts,
Is there a relationship between solar activity and earthquakes ? An increase in seismic activity worldwide has been predicted.
How valid ? Inquiring minds want to know.

According to Richard C Hoagland, www.enterprisemission.com , there is an explanation based on hyperdimensional physics which connects the two. If you can understand it, please enlighten the rest of us.

I don't know anything about a hyperdimensional physics explanation, but I can cook up a mundane explanation, so here goes ...

A change in solar radiance results in a change in mean earth temperature. After a while this results in a change in the volume of the earth's crust, which results in crustal expansion or contraction, either of which can trigger pending earthquakes. Further, a relative change in temperature between polar and equatorial regions, which also occurs when there is a change in solar radiance, and is feedback enhanced by local albedo changes, water evaporation rate changes etc., results in increased wind speeds and new average wind directions. Earthquakes have been correlated to consistent large wind patterns. The force of wind on a content, if it is all or mostly in the same direction, can be astronomical in size. I think the overall effect can be so large and fast as to even momentarily reverse relative tectonic plate motion, which is very slow anyway.
