Liquid metals or electrolytes may make a useful backside media
because they have high conductivity, do not obstruct gas evolution,
and are self healing when it comes to fusion generated events.
Liquid LiD may be an electrolyte of interest as a backside for a
ceramic proton conductor. Various liquid electrolytes are capable of
maintaining anodized layers while still providing the benefits of a
liquid conductor.
