For those who do not follow the Blaze Labs forum and Xavier Borg's insight... today an interesting slant on ZPE appeared. The slant is not related to "energy available" from ZPE so much as the lower ground state availability.

I am including it here because it ties-in nicely to an important point about DPSR (Dicke-Preparata super-radiance).

The distinction (gauge-like distinction) in Xavier's ZPE appraisal would be easy to overlook, but it should not be. It relates energy-flow, but not focusing on the "source," so much as the "sink".

To explain this better, here is a (potentially misleading) kind of analogy which does not depend on ZPE: compressed air motors. These use energy stored in air pressure, yet they are a form of heat engine; even though the temperature of the medium (compressed air) is actually ambient before energy extraction. What has happened, in effect, is that the work done in compression has lowered the 'ground state' or the available "heat sink". This is not the standard verbalization, but it expresses how "ambient" energy can provide plenty of work to anyone who engineers a special degenerate ground state.

In the Casimir force, the ZPE energy outside the plates is actually below ground state in 3-space, but is NOT the lowest possible energy state of the vacuum, and therefore vacuum energy can be engineered to produce useful work by finding an even lower strata, or degenerate state. Another analogy is OTEC, a kind of turbine-generator where ocean surface temperature can be used for energy, since it is at a higher state than the deep-water sink.

In fact it is well known that more than one ground state can exist, and R. Mills of BLP, for instance, has switched his terminology to acknowledge "redundant" ground states. Such states are said to be either shrunken or degenerate. The most important issues with engineering degeneracy for work, is its time-delineated stability, and its entropy-overhead (so to speak).

The entropy of any degenerate ground state, even at zero degrees K, is no longer required to be set at an absolute zero level for calculation purposes. Entropy is simply re-defined as a measure of the availability of a system to do work.

There probably is an "absolute-absolute" zero, out there in extra-dimensionality, somewhere, but as to DPSR in our 3-space, this is not needed.

Super-radiance is considered to be a dissipative instability of negative-energy polarization waves, which occurs as a result of loss by emission into ambient space or into ZPE degenerate space. It is a "self-organizing" effect. That should be emphasized.

Obviously at this stage DPSR is lossy. In this usage, negative-energy is that which is below the conventionally-defined ground state. The best examples is positrons under the Dirac sea model of electron behavior, and the region of reduced vacuum energy associated with the Casimir effect - as dimensions are reduced. Both of these are involved in DPSR.

To turn the initial loss, such as in a glow discharge, into a secondary gain, there must exist a way to immediately use the semi-coherent results to stimulate a gainful reaction, such as LENR. The next important issue is "how ?"

This brings us back to the wavy-waves of "Energetics Technologies Ltd." They are the company from Israel with a shady past, which has reported some of the best energy gains in LENR anywhere. Are they for real? Time will tell, but even if not, they may have stumbled onto an important clue - the superwave.

A superwave consists of waves within waves "fractally nested" in a non-linear manner. Getting to that state requires self-organization (and perhaps a bit of luck) ... and can be expedited by DPSR.

In other words, superadiance (DPSR) when properly engineered (or serendipitously found) will naturally produce a self-organize superwave. Will that superwave then stimulate or catalyze LENR ?

Stay tuned, ZPE surfers....

Yes, Michel ;-) you did hear the (hyperbolic) interconnection of superwave to superradiance first on Vortex ;-)

...even though googling "superwave" turns up 75,000 hits, most of them extraneous to this particualar usage, but there is a particular "shady" book worth mentioning. It is meant to appear to be ostensibly impartial, but mysteriously it was "planted" on Amazon using viral marketing:

http://www.amazon.com/Making-Waves-Irving-Superwave-Principle/dp/1594860440

The (apparently) despicable planted review, we can only hope did not come from Roger Lewin, who has written some decent pop-sci books, but someone has been caught red-handed doing the worst-of-the-worst in yellow journalism- viral marketing (read the reviews - all of the 5-stars apparently "planted").

That alone does not make the conclusion wrong, but there is way too much suspicion in the air already about Dardik, his (reputed) medical quackery, and "Energetics Technologies Ltd." for any carful appraisal to fail to mention that this all may end-up being just a short step above the typical 'crank' claim, or at worst a sophisticated scam. Time will tell.
