The problem lies with a power driven philosophy of knowledge -
Bacon's legacy.
I think Bacon was right, whether we like it or not. (And I like it! I
am a shameless technophile, and will be until we blow ourselves up or
destroy the planet with global warming.)
Lord Acton was also right, but I think he had in mind a different
kind of power -- political power over other people. Not power over
nature. At least, I hope not.
By the way, that video was fun! A must see for all cold fusion
researchers. And the protagonist had a point. A megaton explosion
would convince the skeptics, by golly. Let's hope we can do it with
less drastic means.
