I believe the reference is to a computer simulation by Skoros and someone else (The reference is on a broken computer) where the trapdoors never stop moving. I think the trapdoors should be allowed to slow down by friction and not have their own motion since even nano scale pin and bushing hinges are rigid.

A thimbleful of similar thermal content is easily recovered from the sea so the burden of getting the same molecules back is excessive and unnecessary.
